Dear Friends,

BEDFORDSHIRE DRAMA FESTIVAL 2010

The Twenty Eighth Annual Festival will be held at Haynes Village Hall during the week commencing Monday, April 26th 2010. The exact dates will be available once the number of entries is known. We look forward to welcoming John Scowen to the festival as adjudicator.

A copy of the rules and an entry form can be viewed/downloaded here. The closing date for entry forms is 12th February 2010. Programme details are required by this date to allow time for printing and any details not received will not be included in the programme. Please familiarise yourselves with the festival rules to avoid any possible embarrassment at a later date.

The festival will, as usual, incorporate the preliminary round of the All England Theatre Festival, please contact me if you would like further details of this. We are also members of the National Drama Festival Association and the winning play at our festival will be eligible for nomination for entry to this festival.

For groups that have not entered the festival before we welcome both adult and youth groups. We have thirteen awards, three of which are specifically for youth entries. If you have not entered the festival and would like more information please either phone the above number, e-mail me on debbie.bosher@tiscali.co.uk or visit our website on www.bedsamdram.org . All Bedfordshire groups are eligible to advertise on the BDA website,

The draw for the order of performance will be made after the closing date and groups will be notified of their performance date as soon as possible. Please ensure you record times your group will not be able to perform. Please also ensure that the type of play to be performed is written on the programme details, as plays will be grouped according to type, to create a balance and to ensure that any group entering the same play as another group will not be selected to perform on the same night.

Details of the fees are given on the entry form. You will note that the entry fee for adult groups is to £35 and £25 for youth groups. This, however, includes 7 free tickets for adult entries and 5 for youth entries. Groups can sell these to their members at the festival sale price of £5 per ticket. If these tickets are sold then entry to the festival will effectively be free.

Please note that an amplifier and mixer unit will be available but groups will need to provide their own cd player or deck with a cable with a 1/4” jack to connect the tape player to the amplifier equipment provided. If stereo sound is required groups will need also to provide their own amplifiers.

If you need any further information or clarification please do not hesitate to contact me.

I hope you will feel able to enter the festival this year and look forward to receiving your entry.

Yours sincerely,

Debbie Bosher
Hon. Secretary
